Steaua Bucharest financer Gigi Becali said yesterday (Thurs) the team would
play at Buzau, a small town nearly 120 km from Bucharest.
His
decision comes after the Defence Ministry said yesterday that the lease
contract for the Ghencea stadium had ended, as Steaua Bucharest had not
paid rent for more than 60 days.
"It is clear the team is not
going to play in Ghencea anymore. Now I'll start to take out all seats.
I won't leave anything there, in Ghencea sports base. I'll take all!
The lightning equipment for night matches, the scoring panel...all that
I can take, legally, I'll take!" Becali said.
Becali added he
may appeal to the CFR Cluj stadium in case Steaua reaches the Champions
League, as the stadium in Buzau is not approved for CL matches.
Buzau
is a small town nearly 120 km eastern Bucharest, with around 130,000
inhabitants. The town's team, Gloria Buzau, is currently in the second
league.
Only three stadiums in Romania can host preliminary matches for the
Euro 2012 competition, the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) said
today (Weds).
FRF said that UEFA standards had been raised and
only the following three stadiums would be allowed to host such
matches: Steaua in Bucharest, Dr. Constantin Radulescu in ClujandDan
Paltinisanu in Timisoara.
The FRF will ask UEFA to inspect other two stadiums, Ceahlaul in Piatra Neamt and Ion Oblemenco in Craiova.
Steaua Bucharest is down five places to 45th, with 167.5 points, in
February rankings of football clubs by the International Federation of
Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) issued today (Weds).
Steaua
remains the highest-ranked Romanian team. CFR Cluj, in first place in
the top Romanian league, is 69th, with 143.5 points, while FC Timisoara
is up five positions to 80th, with 133 points.
Dinamo Bucharest is up to 85th from 94th, with 127.5 points.
Romania
has another three teams in the top 250 - Vaslui in 91st, with 123
points, Unirea Urziceni in 105th, with 118.5 points, and FC Brasov in
239th, with 80.5 points.
Comment below and let us know what you think about this!
"Liverpool has kopped it from cup rivals in Romania after a series of slip ups on the Premiership club's official website.
Rafa Benitez's team are due to play the country's Unirea Urziceni FC
tomorrow (Thursday) in the second leg of their Europa Cup showdown.
But
Liverpool's official website has infuriated fans by saying the match
will take place in Budapest - the capital of Hungary - instead of
Bucharest in Romania.
Kop fans are also being told they're playing Unirea Urzicini, misspelling the club's name.
"We
know the British are quite stupid and usually very ignorant of other
countries but schoolchildren could get this right," said one Romanian
fan. "It seems the people in Liverpool are even more stupid than normal
for England."
Now the country's top selling newspaper Libertatea has hit back dubbing Liverpool 'Liver-pul', Romanian slang for d***head."
__________________________________________________________ I'm very angry with the Liverpudlians'
attitudes, and got really pissed off reading this. Shame on them,
they're acting like little kids, they should grow up and stop looking
like a bunch of idiots. This is how it is a lot of times with the
English (especially Liverpool), if they're scared of a team or aren't
happy with performances they'll be stupid like this and insult the
other parties, which is absolutely ridiculous. These fans should be
punished severely by FIFA, who the hell do they think they are?
Dinamo Bucuresti faced Universitatea Craiova at home, winning the derby match 2-1 over the Stiinta.
Even so, I quote "Dinamo won again because of the referee and remains the most disgusting in the Liga I."
Match Highlights (second half only):
Goals were scored by Boştină ('8) and Marius Niculae ('17) for the home team (Dinamo) and Mihai Dina ('19)
1-0: Marius Niculae gave a header to Boştină and the dinamovist midfielder shot from about five metres from left side from the long corner.
In minute 13, Florin Costea escaped to be left alone with no one but Dolha in the defense, and Moti tackled Florin Costea from behind, who in turn fell over, but the referee did not award a penalty kick. U. Craiova club officials protested vehemently, and the club's sporting director, Silvian Cristescu, entered the referee's account calling center field but was it was ignored.
2-0: Andrei Cristea helped to extend the score with a header, and the ball reached Marius Niculae, who placed it in the net from about three to four meters.
2-1: Mihai Dina reduced the difference on the scoreboard after he shot after receiving the ball from a corner on the right side taken by Paunovic.
In the 34th minute, Torje tried to surprise Silviu Lung Jr. with a centred shot, but the ball hit the cross-bar.

______________________________________________________ I think that we (Craiova) deserved to win the match, even if we played poorly, especially in the second half. We had many chances to score and also deserved to get a penalty, which was ridiculously denied by the horrible ref.We still have much to fix this season...
Also, Silviu Lung Jr. did a great job as keeper for us, he made some amazing saves despite having conceded 2 goals.
"After he declared that he would never come back to Romania, Dayro Moreno transmitted to his agent that TimiÅŸoara’s offer is tempting.
Dayro Moreno’s transfer from Steaua to Poli TimiÅŸoara for 550.000 euro could be concluded on Wednesday the latest.
The officials from Poli have managed to discuss with the agent of the player, Alvaro Munoz Castro, who asked them a proposal on mail in order to discuss it with Dayro. "I asked him that the player shall contact us personally in order to hear from him that he is interested in the proposal we advanced. The agent told us that the player is tempted to come at Poli, but we want to hear this from Dayro. His agent asked us a proposal on mail, but we have surpassed this stage long time ago", explained the sponsor Marian Iancu.
Besides, the leaders from TimiÅŸoara have already invited Dayro and his agent at Bucharest in order to start the discussions for signing the contract, if the player is tempted to return to Romania. Moreno has another proposal to return to Once Caldas, the team from where he transferred at Steaua, but the offer of the Columbians is obviously inferior to the one proposed by Poli.
"We are still in negotiations with his agent, and it seems that Dayro has changed his opinions after he heard of our interest" Gheorghe Chivorchian, executive director Poli
"I have heard that Dayro is interested to play at Poli TimiÅŸoara, but we want to hear this straight from him, and not by intermediaries" Marian Iancu, patron Poli
Lăudat de Chivorchian The executive director of Poli, Gheorghe Chivorchian, is convinced that Dayro will sign with Poli. "Are people surprised by our interest for Dayro? Why? He is a football player who plays on 4 positions. He covers the posts of forward, he can play anytime in the middle, and when you have a purpose as that we have, you have to think at such players. We shouldn’t forget that he won Copa Libertadores! Since he has been evolving at Steaua he scored more than 10 goals. I don’t think this is few", said Chivorchian. (Adrian Bucur)
180.000 euro is the salary proposed to Dayro by Poli TimiÅŸoara"
