Quick Match Report
Match finished 2-1 to Santander.
Goals:
Santander - S. Canales (26' and 38')
Sevilla - Romaric (62')
I know this was two days ago, I was just so stunned... :("Mario Balotelli's goal gave the league leaders, Internazionale, a winning start to 2010 but the fractured skull suffered by the defender Cristian Chivu soured their 1-0 victory at Chievo.
Balotelli scored the game's only goal in the 12th minute to settle the contest before a clash of heads between Chievo's captain, Sergio Pellissier, and Chivu in the opening moments of the second half led to the Inter defender being taken to hospital to relieve a haematoma and have bone fragments removed.
The Romanian's life is not in danger but he will have to stay under observation in Verona for some time. "Everything went normally and therefore we are quite confident the patient can recover without problems," doctor Sergio Turazzi said after the operation."

Fiorentina Striker Adrian Mutu: Hotel Punch? It Was Self Defence
Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu has explained an incident where he allegedly punched a man in the face during a hotel party last week.
The Romanian striker has told his version of what happened, suggesting he defended himself from being attacked by the man. Mutu believes video footage from the hotel's CCTV system tells the story.
"On that occasion I responded in self defence, there is a video that shows everything," Mutu is quoted as saying by La Repubblica.
"In any case this incident is closed for me."
